GPA seek €2,000 grant for inter-county players
The Gaelic Players' Association has again confronted the GAA, as the players' body called for a €2,000 for every inter-county panellist.
The GPA announced their plan following their AGM in Portlaoise on Saturday night, after 100 members backed the proposal.
The GPA said the idea of the grant had received support from the Irish Sports Council.
Cork goalkeeper Donal Óg Cusack, who is the GPA secretary, said: "We've put it to the GAA and we are awaiting their response. So far the Sports Council and Brian Cowen have been very positive."
The scheme would cost €4m a year.
