Canavan resumes training with Tyrone

Tyrone legend Peter Canavan returned to the Red Hand squad last night, giving the 2003 All-Ireland champions a timely boost ahead of the Ulster football championship.

The All-Ireland-winning skipper was rumoured to have returned to the squad last week, but only returned to training at Clogher last night.

Canavan missed the entire league campaign after announcing his withdrawal from the squad in January, citing concerns with his fitness levels.

His return to the panel eases matters for Red Hand boss Mickey Harte, who has lost several panellists in the last year, including midfielder Kevin Hughes and forwards Brian McGuigan and Gerard Cavlan.
