Armagh eye league following home win
Armagh 0-12 Down 1-07
Armagh moved level on points with Wexford at the top of the Allianz NFL Division 1B table after their defeat of Down today.
The Orchard county were forced to come from behind for their third win of the league.
The home side pulled clear in the opening exchanges with Oisín McConville firing over after only 10 seconds.
Stephen McDonnell added a free, however Gordon's goal past Paul Hearty soon settled the Mourne men - winners of their opening two league clashes.
Three yellow cards for the visitors - Ronan Sexton, Sean Farrell and Brendan Grant - saw Down lose their way in the final quarter as points from Martin O'Rourke and McConville - his fourth - pushed Armagh three clear.
Although Crossmaglen legend McConville soon walked for a stoppage-time foul on goalscorer Gordon, Armagh held on - shipping just a closing point to Fintan McGarvey.
