Cunningham 'amazed' by Limerick hurling boss reports

Ger Cunningham has ruled himself out of the running for the position of Limerick hurling manager, made vacant by the departure of Padjoe Whelahan (pictured) last week.

Cunningham, who led Newtownshandrum to the All-Ireland club title last year, was the favourite to take over, but he is bewildered by the claims.

He said: "I'm not in the running and I was amazed to hear my name mentioned on the news last Wednesday, wherever they got it from.

"That was the first I knew about it. It could have been a case that my name was being used by someone to put pressure on Padjoe."
