Kelly defends sin bin decision
GAA President Sean Kelly has defended the decision to dump the sin bin, saying the experimental rule had proven a nightmare to apply.
The rule, which saw a player being sent from the field for 10 minutes for a yellow card, was widely criticised by players and managers.
The new alternative, which sees the player being ticked first, then being dismissed for the game, but a substitute taking his place, was a better alternative, Kelly said.
He also stressed that the new rule would not encourage players to 'take out' the better players on an opposing team. He said any such offence would warrant a red card.
