Maughanless Mayo take on Roscommon

Connacht champions and All-Ireland finalists Mayo face off against Roscommon today in the FBD League – in a repeat of last year’s provincial final.

Mayo are managerless for the day. John Maughan is in Hong Kong taking charge of this year’s AllStar selection, who were defeated yesterday.

Maughan’s selectors will deputise as the champions host Tommy Carr’s side in Ballyhaunis in one of two games in Section A of the competition.

Mayo are without James Nallen, David Heaney and Ronan McGarrity, who are on AllStar duty in Hong Kong.

Carr is definitely without the services of Seamus O’Neill. The Clan na nGael club man suffered a suspected broken bone in his foot during last week’s defeat to NUIG.

In the other match in the section, high-flying NUIG, with ace attacker Michael Meehan on board, host the students of Sligo IT in Dangan.

In Section B, GMIT and Clare meet in Menlough, with Sligo facing Leitrim in Tubbercurry.

Meanwhile, in the Dr McKenna Cup Section B, the outstanding fixture between Derry and Queens University will take place in Lavey at 2pm.
