Cork IT set up McGrath Cup semi with Tipperary
MCGRATH MUNSTER SF CUP QUARTER FINAL
UCC 2-08 Cork IT 3-08
Former Cork minor Daniel Goulding spearheaded Cork IT's passage through to a McGrath Cup semi-final with Tipperary next Sunday, as UCC were overthrown 3-08 to 2-08 at the Mardyke.
Attackers Goulding and Paul O'Toole both netted in the first half for the Bishopstown students, as they edged 3-04 to 1-05 clear.
CIT wing back Robert Mageean's sin-binning - one of four throughout the game - saw UCC hit back with John Hayes goaling on 58 minutes, and Glen Burke and Conor McCarthy also tagging on late points.
UCC's David McInerney coughed up a susequent penalty though, and Goulding ended the home side's hopes of progress, pointing his second spot kick to see last season's Sigerson Cup semi-finalists through.
