International Rules captain makes death threat claims

It has been claimed that death threats have been made against the Australian International Rules team.

Five threatening voice messages were left by a person with an Irish accent on the hotel room phone of Australian captain James Hird.

It happened ahead of last week's first test against Ireland.

Hird has said at least one other person has received similar threats.

“Before the game there were four of five messages on my phone calling me all sorts of stuff and saying that I would be lucky to walk off at Croke Park.”

“Then one of our players two nights ago received phone calls as well.”
