In spite of talk of him leaving for Dublin, Mick O'Dwyer is to remain at the helm of the Laois football team, following marathon talks between the management, the county board and the players last night.

O'Dwyer held talks with county board delegates and the players at the Heath, outside Portlaoise, and entered via a back door to avoid the media.

It's believed that O'Dwyer's grievances surrounding the availability and commitment of players were ironed out at last night's meeting.

Selector Declan O’Loughlin said after the meeting that he was confident that O'Dwyer would take charge of training tomorrow night. He added that the situation had been between O'Dwyer and the players.

The Laois panel trained last night, but did not comment to the watching media.
