Cooney to mediate in Tipp football row
Former Munster Council Chairman Christy Cooney will mediate in the row between the Tipperary football board, the county board and the senior footballers.
The mediation process is set to begin straight away to end the dispute that began when Tipp manager Andy Shortall stepped down in protest at the decision to go ahead with county fixtures just days before an All-Ireland senior qualifier against Fermanagh.
Two footballers were involved in the Mid-Tipp fixtures.
The football panel stood by Shortall and the county board had to withdraw from the qualifier fixture, drawing a fine of €5,000 from Croke Park.
