McCaul may take over Dublin hot-seat

There is speculation that former Dublin football manager Gerry McCaul could return to the hot-seat.

There is speculation that former Dublin football manager Gerry McCaul could return to the hot-seat.

McCaul managed the Dubs from 1987 to 1990 and is the latest name to be linked with the job, which has been vacant since Tommy Lyons' departure following Dublin's defeat to Kerry in the All-Ireland quarter-final.

McCaul steered Dublin to a Leinster championship crown and a National League title during his time at the helm.

However, former player Brian Mullins remains the bookies' favourite for the job.

Mullins was given a vote of confidence yesterday by former Dublin goalkeeper and current Dublin Ladies manager John O'Leary.

O'Leary said that Dublin would get to an All-Ireland final next year if Mullins was given the job because he would be able to "pull the players together".
