Conran resigns from Wexford post

John Conran has resigned as manager of the Wexford senior hurling team.

Conran, whose side defeated Kilkenny on their way to the Leinster championship crown but slumped to Cork in the semi-final, cited family and career commitments as the reasons for his decision.

Conran took charge for last year and led the side to the All-Ireland semi-finals, where they took Cork to a replay.

This year Wexford qualified for the semi-final by virtue of their defeat of Offaly in the Leinster final, but were hammered by 18 points by the Rebels.

Conran's selectors, Martin Quigley and Dickie Murphy, have also stepped down. Former U21 manager Seamus Murphy has been touted as a replacement.
