Irish International Rules manager Pete McGrath is to name a 40-man squad on September 1 to prepare for the series against Australia in October.

However, McGrath has decided against extended trials for the players, citing availability as his reason.

McGrath added: "Rather than fatigue people and maybe sicken people we decided to have a more compressed approach to it. We intend to hold our first get-together in the first weekend of September."

The first test takes place on October 17, with the second a week later.
