Fermanagh hoping to repeat history
Fermanagh's Charlie Mulgrew will be hoping championship history repeats itself when they play Mayo in their All-Ireland semi-final next Sunday.
Fermanagh won the only ever previous championship clash between the sides, a 0-12 to 1-8 win in an All-Ireland Round 4 qualifier in July last year at Markievicz Park.
Mayo did beat Fermanagh 1-7 to 0-8 in the NFL back in February in Enniskillen. A goal by Mayo corner-forward, Damien Munnelly in the 20th minute was the decisive score in a rain-sodden encounter.
Mayo boss John Maughan also has experience on his side. Maughan will be running the line for 5th time in an All-Ireland semi-final, having started out with Clare in 1992 when they lost to Dublin.
He presided over semi-final wins with Mayo against Kerry and Offaly respectively in 1996-97 but lost out to Cork in 1999.
This will be Charlie Mulgrew's first All-Ireland semi-final outing as a manager.
