Laois to play without Higgins against Tyrone

Laois's injury woes continue with the news that All Star defender Joe Higgins damaged ligaments in his knee in Saturday's Leinster football final replay loss to Westmeath.

The corner-back has been ruled out for Sunday's clash with All-Ireland champions Tyrone and is unlikely to play any further part in this year's campaign.

Higgins suffered the injury following a clash with Westmeath's Dessie Dolan.

Manager Mick O'Dwyer also has to plan without team captain Chris Conway, who was rushed to hospital last Friday to have his appendix removed.
