O'Connell ban over-ruled in High Court
Westmeath manager Páidí Ó Sé is free to pick All Star Rory O'Connell for Sunday's Leinster football final after the midfielder was granted a temporary injunction in the High Court today.
The Athlone clubman went to the High Court after his appeal against his 12-week suspension was turned down by the GAC and the Management Committee.
O'Connell received the ban for allegedly stamping on Offaly's Pascal Kelleghan in a Leinster championship tie on May 23. He was sent to the line on the word of a linesman.
Judge Sean Ó Laoire ruled the decision to suspend the county's first ever All Star was ineffective because written evidence was not considered.
Ó Sé said outside the court: "I am delighted for Rory and delighted for his family."
