Decies' Mullane gets four-week ban

Waterford's sole 2003 Allstar John Mullane will miss the All-Ireland semi-final, but will be eligible for the final if the Decies qualify.

The GAA's Games Administration Committee handed him a four-week ban following his sending-off in the Munster final.

Mullane was involved in an incident with Cork defender Brian Murphy and was sent to the line shortly into the second-half.

There were fears the attacker would face a three-month ban, because he had already been sent off in the last 48 weeks.

Mullane will miss the All-Ireland semi-final because a straight red card means he automatically misses the next game in the same competition.

Mullane is reported to be relieved and delighted by the decision, as is his manager Justin McCarthy.
