McDonald makes Mayo return

Mayo's enigmatic football star Kieran McDonald is back in the county first team for Sunday's clash with Galway after a two-year absence.

McDonald has starred for Mayo at centre-forward in recent challenge games and wins his place back for the Galway tie.

Boss John Maughan has opted to make several additional changes with Fintan Ruddy in goals instead of Peter Burke.

Rising star Austin O'Malley has to be content with a place on the bench as do Billy Joe Padden and Damien Munnelly.

James Gill and Ronan McGarrity start at midfield with McDonald replacing Aidan Moran at centre-forward.
