The Tipperary footballers are facing a 48-week league and championship ban for their failure to fulfill tomorrow's qualifier tie with Fermanagh.

The county team opted not to play the game after a stormy week in the Premier County in which boss Andy Shorthall and his management team resigned in protest at the playing of a midweek club game.

Rule 116B of the GAA's official guide could come into operation which states that "a county failing to fulfill a championship fixture shall be disqualified and suspended for 48 weeks."
