Dempsey: Carlow win most satisfying yet

Carlow 'advisor' Luke Dempsey admitted Sunday's Leinster championship defeat of Longford was perhaps his most satisfying win ever.

Carlow 'advisor' Luke Dempsey admitted Sunday's Leinster championship defeat of Longford was perhaps his most satisfying win ever.

Former Westmeath boss Dempsey has been involved with Carlow less than a month, following Mick Condon's departure, and they looked a dishevelled outfit.

Dempsey said: "This championship win is definitely one of the most satisfying that I have been associated with as a team manager.

"When I came to Carlow I could see that there was plenty of talent there."

Things have gone from bad to worse for Longford chief Denis Connerton though after watching his side follow up relegation with a crushing championship loss.

"We had an injury crisis in our defence but I don't want to take anything away from Carlow. On their display, they fully deserved their victory.”
