President Kelly denies O'Dwyer snub
GAA President Sean Kelly has denied that he snubbed his native Kerryman Mick O'Dwyer by overlooking him for the International Rules post.
O'Dwyer was the name on everyone's lips to get the job, but Pete McGrath was the surprise choice instead to lead Ireland out at Croke Park next Autumn.
Kelly explained: "Mick O'Dwyer was asked to act as selector and assistant manager with the opportunity to take over as manager in two years' time if he wasn't involved in inter-county management. He thought about it then declined gracefully and I understand that."
