GAA President Kelly backs underfire referees

GAA President Sean Kelly has come out in defence of beleagured referees across the country and backed their hardline decisions.

A spate of red and yellow cards have been issued so far this year, including 14 reds during series two of the football league, but Kelly has welcomed the crackdown.

He explained: "Referees have been told to watch out for fouls which had been going unpunished and I think they are all singing off the one hymn sheet now."
