Hectic weekend's football lined up
The hectic pace at the start of the Allianz Football League continues next weekend with several key games lined up in all four Divisions.
By Sunday evening, a number of significant point will have emerged as the groups begin to take shape, prior to the three-week break ahead of Round Four.
Two of the biggest crowds of the day will be at Pearse Park and Parnell Park for two intriguing games, which have taken on a whole new dimension after last Sunday’s results.
Having beaten Kerry and Westmeath, Longford will be well primed for the visit of All-Ireland champions, Tyrone, who got off the mark against Fermanagh last Sunday.
Having turned in one of their worst performances for a long time against Mayo, Dublin will be coming under the microscope in front of their home fans at Parnell Park, where they entertain Kerry, while Fermanagh will be hoping to pick up their first points at home to Westmeath.
The weekend’s action begins in front of the TG4 cameras at Pairc Uí Rinn on Saturday night when Cork, who are still waiting for their first win, host table toppers Mayo.
When Armagh last met Laois in the Allianz Football League, the Division One semi-final was at stake.
That was last April, but things have changed in both camps this season.
Laois have lost their two opening games to Limerick and Sligo while Armagh, who edged out Wexford on opening day, were well beaten by Galway last time out, so Sunday’s clash at Crossmaglen is crucial for both sides.
Two promoted sides, Limerick and Wexford, clash in the Gaelic Grounds, with Limerick seeking a third straight win which would keep them at the top of the table.
It won’t be easy though against a Wexford side which stunned Meath last Sunday.
Meath entertain neighbours Cavan, who have yet to win a game, while unbeaten Sligo will be confident mood for the visit of Galway to Markievicz Park.
