Taylor goals help Sligo to second League win
DIVISION 1B: Laois 0-08 Sligo 2-06
Two second-half goals from Sligo forward Paul Taylor handed his side their second straight win of the Allianz NFL Division 1B.
They overhauled a two-point half-time deficit to cut loose against Leinster champions Laois in this win.
In a low scoring opening period Dessie Sloyan opened the scoring from a 45 having missed a second minute goal chance.
Sligo were dealt a blow as corner forward Gerry McGowan injured his shoulder and was replaced after 20 minutes before three points from Laois half-forward sent the home side 0-05 to 0-03 in front at the break.
Taylor had pointed his second free on 33 minutes to close the gap before the interval and he struck at the second attempt after Laois goalkeeper Fergal Byron had saved his first penalty six minutes after the restart to put Sligo in front 1-03 to 0-05.
Eastern Harps forward Taylor claimed his second goal on 48 minutes after a foul on Sloyan before Conway and former Laois minor captain Martin Delaney brought the Laois tally up to seven points.
Taylor completed his tally of 2-03 with three minutes remaining from a placed ball to bring his league tally to 3-05 in two games and complete another competent Sligo display.
