Former All-Ireland winning hurling boss Liam Griffin has stood firm behind the Hurling Development Committee's controversial proposal to split the championship into three tiers.

Speaking at Trinity College Dublin this afternoon on "the role of the manager" Griffin, who led Wexford to 1996 success, backed the three tier issue and the rest of the motions that will come before next April's annual Congress.
