Big-hearted Peter backs fallen Kerry star

Big-hearted Tyrone skipper Peter Canavan has admitted that Kerry's Mike McCarthy was completely innocent when the pair clashed in the All-Ireland semi-final.

Canavan collided with both McCarthy, for which the Kerry player was booked and then suffered another accidental collision with Seamus Moynihan.

Canavan explained: "I never got a chance to say it, but Michael McCarthy did get booked for absolutely nothing. He caught me with his elbow and I ended up getting a few stitches, but it was purely an accident."
