All-Ireland club hurling champions Birr want Sunday week's Leinster final with O'Loughlin Gaels postponed because of a spate of injuries and withdrawals.

Simon and Barry Whelahan as well as Liam Power and Paul Molloy are all injured while talisman Johnny Pilkington will be absent on work duty.

Boss Pad Joe Whelahan said: "In seven years of serious club hurling we've never once looked for a postponement so we're hoping we will get a good hearing. We don't make the request lightly.”
