Aussie players hit with bans

Australian player Matthew Scarlett will miss out on Friday's concluding test in the International Rules series after being hit with a three game ban.

Scarlett pleaded guilty to striking Ireland's Dessie Dolan in an off the ball incident last Friday and will also miss next year's series in Dublin.

Dolan said he got no chance to defend himself against the frenzied attack but Scarlett claimed: “At no stage did I take my hand off his jumper and punch him as has been reported."

In a separate incident veteran Mark Bickley copped a one game ban for clashing with Tom Kelly leaving the Aussies down two key players as they defend their 10 point advantage.

Boss Garry Lyon said: "We're very aware that the rules are in place for a good reason and that is that this thing continues to prosper and they've paid the ultimate price.

“Bicks is shattered and disappointed and apologetic. I share his disappointment. We thought that was one that we might have a little bit of a chance on but it wasn't to be.”
