Lyon: Goals were key to victory
Australia manager Garry Lyon reflected on his side's International Rules test victory over Ireland in Perth and then admitted that the three goals his side scored were the key to victory.
The Aussies outscored Ireland by three goals to one and long-serving boss Lyon pointed to the own goal conceded by Ireland's Cormac McAnallen in the third quarter as the turning point.
Lyon said: "We were 10 points behind, and suddenly, we're just four down and what happens then is that the guys get a sniff.
"It's a bit like kicking a goal in an AFL final. You get a real buzz from it and in the end we were able to kick three which turned out to be the difference."
