Cats add U21 to Leinster haul

Kilkenny 0-12 Dublin 1-4

Kilkenny 0-12 Dublin 1-4

Kilkenny endured a few nervous moments before downing Dublin to add the U-21 title to their amazing haul in Leinster this year at Dr Cullen Park.

The Cats claimed their first provincial win at the level since 1999 to complete their domination of the province with minor, senior and intermediate titles already in the bag.

Dublin got off to a sorry start and were three points down before they knew what had hit them but inspired by senior star Conal Keaney - 1-1 in the first-half - they were level by the interval at 0-6 to 1-3.

Unfortunately that was where the excitement ended on a rain sodden evening and both sides suffered with the conditions in the second-half.

In fact with six minutes to go there had only been three points scored in the half with two of those from Kilkenny's Ken Coogan and Fogarty.

The game was there for the taking for either side and in typical style Kilkenny saved the best for last racking up 0-4 in eight minutes to seal it.
