Tipp's Costelloe to miss quarter-final

Tipperary defender Thomas Costelloe is likely to miss the All-Ireland senior hurling quarter final having sustained a broken rib in yesterday's qualifier clash with Galway at Salthill.

Costelloe departed the scene at half time having struggled through much of the first half with the injury.

He received the break when tackling an oncoming Galway attacker and realised immediately that he was in trouble.

The Cappawhite man will have intensive treatment over the next couple of weeks to try and shake off the injury but the liklihood of him recovering in time for the quarter final clash in Croke Park is slim.
