Kerry trounce Tipp in Tralee
Kerry 0-25, Tipperary 1-10 (full-time)
Kerry eased their way into the Bank of Ireland Leinster Senior Football final, courtesy of a comprehensive 12-point win over Tipperary at Austin Stack Park, Tralee.
The Kerrymen completely outplayed Tipperary in the first half and sowed the seeds of victory with a 0-15 to 0-05 interval lead – Declan O’Sullivan and Declan Quill getting three points apiece, while John Crowley, Colin Cooper and Sean O’Sullivan had two each.
Tipperary staged a partial comeback upon resumption, with the excellent Declan Browne grabbing 1-2 without reply.
However, Kerry slipped into another gear, and the introduction of Mike Frank Russell, who scored four points, and Dara O’Cinneide inspired them further still.
This was no test for the Kerrymen, and has left Tipperary wondering where their championship ambitions now lie.
They go into the qualifier draw for the All Ireland Series.
