Dubs closer to Cats encounter
Dublin 4-17 Westmeath 0-13
Dublin are just 70 minutes away from a Leinster SHC semi-final date with Kilkenny after disposing of Westmeath in clinical fashion at Parnell Park.
With Ger Ennis and captain Kevin Flynn both outstanding up front the Blues cruised to a 3-5 to 0-9 half-time lead thanks to three goals in the first 10 minutes.
There was more of the same after the break as Westmeath completely wilted with just 0-4 in the second-half.
In the meantime teenager Michael Carton and Mossie McGrane came off the bench to bag two points each and Ennis sealed the win with their fourth goal on 60 minutes.
Dublin will now face Laois in the preliminary series final with the winners advancing to face All-Ireland champs Kilkenny.
