Rebels hold out for Galway win
Galway 1-14, Cork 1-18
There was little more than pride at stake at the end of this Allianz NHL game but Cork held on for a narrow win despite a spirited Galway display.
The winners held a six-point lead at the break, after playing with a strong breeze and a Ben O'Connor penalty then put them well clear.
However, a Richie Murray free rattled the Cork net to make it 1-16 to 1-08.
Galway put in a tremendous finish and some fine scores by Richie Murray and Alan Kerins closed the gap but the Rebels held firm.
