Down thrown a lifeline
Down 0-15 Meath 1-11
A point by Liam Doyle, Down's top scorer with six points, with the last kick of the game gave Down victory and a lifeline for survival in Division 1 with this win.
The Down cause was helped by the fact that Meath were reduced to 14 players for the final 15 minutes when Midfielder Charlie McCarthy was sent off.
The win could have been more comfortable, but Down missed a penalty five minutes from time when Gregory McCartan sent wide after Liam Doyle had been fowled going through.
