Tipp through to McGrath Cup final

Tipperary 1-8 Waterford 2-4

A point from a free two minutes into injury time by Benny Hickey gave Tipperary victory over Waterford in the McGrath Cup football semi-final at Clonmel today.

Tipperary got off to a great start with a Patrick Halley goal after two minutes. Waterford took time to settle but a Gary Hurney goal a minute before half-time left them only two points behind at the break.

Hurney scored his second goal for Waterford five minutes from the end to put them ahead for the first time. They looked set for a win but Fergal O'Callaghan levelled for Tipp in the 31st minute before Hickey pointed a free to seal victory.
