Dub hurlers felt unwanted weight from footballers
Dublin hurling selector Canice Hennebry has revealed his side were burdened with the same weight of expectancy as the county's footballers.
The Dublin hurlers are well down the Leinster pecking order and Hennebry said: "It's been difficult, especially when you're competing with the footballers for the public's imagination.
"I can remember when I first started playing for Dublin in the early 1970s. Back then, we probably enjoyed a higher profile than the footballers, but Kevin Heffernan's team then came along to win the All-Ireland and football has been the dominant sport ever since."
