Lynch wins Munster football award

Cork's Anthony Lynch has been voted the Munster Footballer of the Year by the provincial council.

Cork's Anthony Lynch has been voted the Munster Footballer of the Year by the provincial council.

The brilliant defender got the nod over colleague Colin Corkery and Kerry stars like Darragh O Se, Colm Cooper and Mike Frank Russell.

Elsewhere Waterford's All-Star recipient Fergal Hartley has been named Hurler of the Year.

Other award winners: Camogie Player of the Year, Fiona O'Driscoll (Cork); Ladies Footballer of the Year, Donna Frost (Waterford); Handballer of the Year, John Kirby (Clare); Distinguished Service in Administration, Tony O'Keeffe (Kerry); Distinguished Service in Schools GAA, Michael Forristal

(Tipperary); Media Award, Gerry Slevin (Nenagh Guardian); Referee Award, Noel Dalton (Waterford).
