Former senior manager takes over Galway minors

Former Galway senior hurling manager Mattie Murphy has been appointed boss of the county minor side.

Murphy had a spell as boss of Mayo last season but returns to Galway despite being sacked twice from the seniors.

Murphy, an All-Ireland winning minor manager in 1994, was in the running for a spell last month to succeed Noel Lane as Galway senior boss but opted to withdraw his name from the race and instead takes over the minors.
