Gill on fire as Rathnew beat UCD - report

Tommy Gill blitzed the scoreboard and sent Leinster champions Rathnew through the last four of this year's Leinster Senior Football Championship at Newbridge.

Wicklow star Gill was an absolute revelation hitting all 1-6 of their scores and tapping over the winner deep into injury time.

Rathnew trailed by 1-3 to 0-2 at the break with Cormac McAnallen scoring 1-1 for UCD early on, allied to points from Ciaran McManus and John Hanley.

But Rathnew dug deep despite having Barry Mernagh sent off and staged one of the most dramatic recoveries in this year's championship to progress.

Rathnew will face Dunshaughlin next weekend in the semi-final for the seventh time in three years.
