First competitive floodlit GAA game takes place

The first ever competitive GAA game to be held under lights will take place in Thurles on Friday.

The match takes place at Dr Morris Park, Thurles, on Friday evening when Killenaule take on

Loughmore/Castleiney in the Adult Football League.

Dr Morris Park which is owned by the County GAA Board has state of the art floodlighting ensuring that games can take place at night time.

It is the training home to the Tipperary hurlers and footballers and now the County Board are embarking upon a series of competitive games there also to help alleviate the chaotic fixtures list in

the county.

The game gets underway at 8pm.
