McGeeney, Shefflin pick up top GAA awards
Armagh and Kilkenny led the way again as the year's top GAA figures assembled at the Burlington Hotel for the Star Player of the Year awards.
Armagh All-Ireland winning captain Kieran McGeeney has been named Star-Waterford Crystal Footballer of the Year. Kilkenny's Henry Shefflin picked up the hurling equivalent.
GAA Personality of the Year went to Dublin's Ray Cosgrove.
Meanwhile, Kilkenny's fundraising efforts for the traditional All-Ireland winners' holiday have been given a boost from an unusual quarter.
Finbarr Furey, Tommy Tiernan and the Apres Match crew are among the guests for a Vicar Street concert on December 4, organised by Eamon Dunphy.
