Hayes ready to inspire Tribesmen
Recently installed Galway senior hurling manager Conor Hayes says his glorious playing career is the foundation on which he'll build his managerial career.
Hayes was installed as successor to Noel Lane early this week and though he's never held a managerial position before he's confident of doing a good job.
He said: "I've been through the mill as a player at inter-county level from 1977 to '90, and I'm confident that will stand to me.
"I played in six All-Ireland senior finals three of which we won, with me as captain in two and was a sub for two other All-Ireland finals.
"You'd want to be very unaware of what was going on, and also to be lacking in intelligence if you didn't pick up a considerable amount of knowledge from all that experience."
