Conran gets Wexford job
Rathnure’s John Conran was appointed Wexford hurling manager last night.
Conran managed Wexford Under-21 sides to provincial titles in ’96 and ’97. He brings Martin Quigley and Dickie Murphy in as his backroom team.
The former Rathnure stalwart was an Allstar winner in 1987 and won two Leinster senior hurling medals as a substitute in 1976 and 1977.
Some members at last night's County Board meeting questioned the decision of the committee not to grant an interview to Under-21 Manager Seamus Murphy who guided the county to the provincial title last year and this year, while also managing his club Rathnure to this years county senior hurling title.
