Moynihan to lead Irish squad
New Ireland captain Seamus Moynihan has admitted he's got some giant boots to fill as he leads the Irish squad in the International Rules series this October.
Moynihan was speaking after the announcement of the 51-strong Irish panel for the international series. He will captain the team.
The Kerry full-back follows the lead of GAA greats like Anthony Tohill, John McDermott and Trevor Giles in taking up the skipper's armband.
He said: "I¹ve been involved with the Rules side since 1998. But it's extra special to be leading the side this year.
"Coming in after players like John McDermott is amazing for me as a player. I just hope we can pull off another win and do ourselves justice."
Ireland boss John O'Keeffe will have his first training session this Friday but is expected to be without many of the 51-strong panel who are still on championship duty.
