Armagh lead Sligo by two at break

Armagh 1-05, Sligo 0-06 (half-time)

Armagh take a two-point advantage to the dressingroom at half-time in their All-Ireland quarter-final clash against Sligo at Croke Park.

Sligo drew first blood with a point from Ciaran Quinn, but three Oisin McConville frees gave the Orchard county the early advantage.

John McEntee followed up with a fourth point, before Gerry McGowan pulled a point back for Sligo.

Corner-back Neil Carew added another for the Westerners, but Armagh found the back of the Sligo net in the 22nd minute through Stephen McDonnell to silence the Sligo challenge.

Dangermen Oisin McConville and Dessie Sloyan then exchanged points coming up to the half-hour mark.

Ciaran Quinn and Dessie Sloyan added further points for Sligo to bring them to within two, and Gerry McGowan missed a chance from in front of the goals to draw his side to within one at the break.

Worryingly for Armagh, they have incurred four first-half bookings, including Justin McNulty, Francie Bellew and Oisin McConville.
