Council to reject Lyons’ request for money

The Leinster Council is expected to reject a request from Dublin football manager Tommy Lyons for his side and Kildare to receive extra funding following Sunday’s sell-out Leinster final.

Gate receipts at Croke Park were worth around €2m to the GAA, with the association in line to make more than €500,000 in clear profit.

Lyons said Dublin and Kildare should receive €50,000 each for improved training facilities because of the sell-out clash, but the Leinster Council is expected to turn down his request.
