Mayo win replay comfortably

Freetaker Frank Brown pitched nine points as Mayo took the NHL Div 4 title in considerable style, beating Monaghan by 10 points, 1-15 1-05, at Sligo’s Markiewicz Park.

Mayo always controlled this replay with the feature of the first half being the pointed frees scored by Mayo’s Frank Brown and his Monaghan counterpart Paul Ward.

The winners, for who wingback Paddy Barrett excelled should have scored a first half goal but Pierce Higgins played the shot over the crossbar.

Higgins did score his sides only goal in the 30th minute of the second half just 2 minutes after Paul Ward grabbed a consolation goal for an outclassed Monaghan.
