Hurling: Limerick avenge Munster final defeat
Limerick 2-13 Tipp 1-12
All-Ireland champions Tipperary's unbeaten run came to an end at Semple Stadium in the Allianz National Hurling League when Limerick recorded their first victory in a competitive and hard-fought game.
Tipperary lead at the interval by 1-10 to 1-06 having played with the aid of a very strong breeze.
However, they did not have it all their own way and a Mark Keane goal in the 30th minute sent Limerick into the lead 1-6 to 0-6.
Tipperary responded and hit 1-4 in the final six minutes of the half, the goal coming from Eugene O'Neill after a slip up by Stephen McDonagh.
In a nip-and-tuck second half Limerick came back to level the game in the 14th minute when Mark Keane buried his second goal.
Despite Tipperary introducing last year's hurler of the year Tommy Dunne and regular forward John Carroll they failed to score after the 13th minute of the second half.
Limerick continued to pile on the pressure and Mark Keane, who scored 2-7 for them, was the hero getting the scores to clinch victory.
