GAA: Referees win player of the month awards

Two Inter-County Referees and an International Handballer have won the Eircell Vodafone GAA Player of the Month Awards.

The referees honoured were Pat O'Connor from Limerick in Hurling and Michael Collins from Cork in Football.

The handball player to receive the monthly award was Tony Healy from Cork.

Mr Donie Nealon, Secretary Munster Council GAA and Maire O'Sullivan, Eircell Vodafone Corporate Relations Manager for Munster, co-presented the Player of the Month Awards.

Commenting at the presentation event, Ms O'Sullivan said: "The honour bestowed on Pat O'Connor and Michael Collins today reflects not only their own contribution to the game and to the area of refereeing but also highlights the contribution referees in general made to last year's Hurling and Football Championships. "
